Next, find the median, or the 2nd quartile, of the set of data. If there are an odd number of pieces of data, the median is the middle value. If there are an even number of pieces of data, the median will be halfway between the two middle pieces of data. The number of elements that are in the set is 21. Since 21 is an odd number, the value of the 2nd quartile, Upper Q 2, is 490.
