The Double Helix  Notes 11/02/2008 21:20:00 Francis:  was a physicist, became a biologist after reading  What is Life?   not prepared to jump into the DNA world only worked in protein field for 2 years so far Putting together models like a 3-D jigsaw puzzle to figure out the structure of  DNA won him and Watson the Nobel prize Maurice didn’t see the value in this method Sir Lawrence Bragg published a paper using a theory that Francis had  propounded in the lab and so Francis accused him of using it without giving him credit  (Bragg said he came up with it himself). Bragg considered removing Francis, but didn’t because he couldn’t get kicked  out while still working on a dissertation at Cambridge. Bragg still didn’t see  value of Francis at the lab though because he hadn’t contributed anything of  value.
