Federal government wants to control opinion on WWII. Roosevelt says its war for democracy. We start to push the idea that our allies are as free as we are. Stalin (Uncle Joe) try to make him look American. Fran Capra (why we fight) series of doc. why we a at war. The sec. of treasur start new war bonds. An idea arises that sacrifice is something everyone needs to do and this is seen in Casablanca. Propaganda issues- ant German, and Japanese images. The US makes sure that people think US Germans are not bad but Nazi Germans are bad. Japs are portrayed as animals. The office of war information uses media, radio to represent war in a way they want to. Black and white way of showing good vs. evil. Randolph Bourne. Writes essays on how the war is being fought. Dwite McDonald-the responsibility of peoples. Its about Nazi Germany and how Nazi came into Power. The gov and corporations became too powerful. He says that because their explainging the war in black and white, that it’s the same thing the Nazis are doing.
