1.0 Introduction For the past few years, illegal logging has emerged as one of the serious worldwide concern in the forest sector. Individuals from all around the world including us as a student, the government officials and social activists denounce about this issues in various platform whether in the newspaper or even the news on the television, the radio and they even start at an early stage by approaching younger generation through education and campaign at schools and also universities. But the real question about this issues it that, what is it? Does people really concern about it? And what are people doing about it? In this written report will offer a general answers to those questions. It started by understanding what is illegal logging in general by looking at what people have included in the term illegal logging based on their personal preferences and understanding. It then briefly discusses about why it is a concern to such a wide group and what causes the illegal logging to happen in the forest sector. Finally, the written report will describes some recent activities and effort that have been done by individuals from all around the world including the governments, social activists, public and also students in order to fight against illegal logging. What is illegal logging? In order to define illegal logging a contrast should be made between the terms "illegal logging and "illegal activities" to get a clearer understanding of this terms. Illegal activities can be grouped in six sector which may include illegal occupation of forestland where there is invasion of public forested land by either orang asli, communities or private corporations to develop them into agriculture or cattle breeding or in a simple words is invading lands. Illegal activities also included illegal logging, woodlands arson which is burning of forest for commercial uses, illegal timber transport and illegal forest processing. [ CITATION Car03 \l 1086 ]. Therefore the term illegal logging has no single definition as it can be defined either broadly or specifically. Based on research made on World Wildlife Fun (WWF), it is stated that illegal logging occurs when log is being cut and gathered, then transferred to be processed and commercialized in order to be bought by buyers or sold in contravention of national or sub- national laws [ CITATION Fra06 \l 1086 ]. Although in general we defined it a problems in forests sections, illegality also occurs in developed countries and economics in transaction.
