Hello everyone! Thank you all for coming today! I’d like to tell you a short story about my friend Steve. He holds a position of the head of sales department (1) in a huge company. Recently he had his back against the wall (2) because of one simple thing: his boss gave him a task to evaluate (3) overall annual performance of his marketing team and to increase motivation within it. If Steve wants to stay in (4) his position, he’d better succeed in making (5) this report. He took on this tough assignment (6), but the tricky part is that Steve didn’t do many appraisals (7), so he has no idea how he should evaluate his fellow workers (8). He pointed out (9) an interesting method of boosting motivation based on expectations, which caught his eye (10). This theory is called Pygmalion Motivation Method, which is based on Pygmalion effect. I am going to introduce this theory to you and to explain its working algorithm so you could potentially (11) increase your and your colleagues’ motivation. Firstly I’m going to give you a brief definition of this theory. Secondly I’m going to describe the whole process of implementing this theory in the working process (12) and maybe pass down (13) a few tips. And finally I’m going to analyze its pros and cons. My presentation won’t last more than 10 minutes, and, if you have any questions, you can ask them after I finish my presentation. So, let’s begin? At a first glance on the name of the method there appears a question: why is it called so? This effect is named after George Bernard Shaw's play "Pygmalion", which is the basis of the film and stage musical "My Fair Lady".
