1.09 Beowulf Essay Topic #1Beowulf is the single greatest story of old English literature and old of the greatest epics of all time.Beowulf reflects the values of the culture in which it was created. The Anglo-Saxon culture and the poem share many of the same values. They shared a heroic ideal that included loyalty, strength, courage, courtesy, and generosity.Both Beowulf and the Anglo-Saxons believed in those qualities as an individual.The strongest ties of Bravery in their society were to kin and lord. We learn of Beowulf’s Bravery in the pastand we witness his intent as he heads into battle with Grendel. Beowulf bravery offered his help not knowing what he was up against. When he arrived, Beowulf did not ask the king for either money or fame. Before facing Grendel, Beowulf “took off the helmet and handed his attendant / patterned sword. “ Therefore that is some examples of how Beowulf presented Bravery.
