When we consider the word love as a verb instead of a feeling, the biblical worldview would state that this loving relationship is related to two principles: honor and protection. Explain how these two principles guide servant leadership in the workplace. The characteristics of servant leadership include putting the followers' needs first, active listening, empathy, honor, emotional intelligence, moral authority, etc. Honor is the high respect, esteem, fairness, honesty, and integrity in one’s beliefs and actions (McCuistion , 2018). According to Greenleaf (2016), compassionate love is the core of servant leadership which will encourage an ethical attitude in terms of humility, gratitude, forgiveness, and altruism. The leader who leads with benevolent love focuses on the employees first and lastly on the benefits of the organization (Dierendonck & Patterson, 2015).
