ECON 1740 Final Study Guide Fall 2018 Alvaro La Parra Perez 1 You should be familiar with all the material that we have covered on the reading list, and in the lectures. This study guide aims at providing a helpful review of important questions but the questions in the exam will not necessarily be drawn from this document. The final exam will mostly deal with the new material (Lectures 13 to Lecture 19) but you should expect a few questions (not more than 10-15% of total points in the exam) to be about older material. Do not study in depth Lectures 1 to 12 again. Just quickly review them to make sure you remember the most general and important points and conclusions. - How did the Federal Government pay for the Civil War? You should be familiar with the evolution of the value of greenbacks during the Civil War and their impact on banks and note holders. What was the National Banking Act? How did the Federal Government favor national- chartered banks over state-chartered banks? You should be familiar with the evolution in the number of national and state banks during and after the Civil War and its determinants.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
