Education is not a Problem After the interview with Deputy York, we contacted Northeast Driving School and asked them how they inform kids on texting and driving. The instructor told us they devote a three hour class to going over the laws, punishments, and dangers of distracted driving. They show the students public safety announcements and make the participate in games that show them how hard multitasking is when in motion. We asked if her kids knew the first offense for texting and driving. She informed us that the kids were tested on it, and an outstanding number passed. This showed us that lack of education and awareness weren’t problems. An Interview with Deputy York According to Deputy York, he pulls over drivers who seem to be looking down often, or have a bright light shining in their face. A distracted driver who’s texting, can be just as dangerous as a driver who is drinking. He thinks texting and driving is a huge problem, with 30-40% of those who he pulls over are distracted drivers. He thinks education such as drivers ed is important and makes an impact. Texting and
