Affected by weather Preparation for Patrol: materials/equipment for patrol area, forms, cuffs, flashlight, check vehicle, medical kit 638 Foot Patrol Conspicuous during daylight hours, at night use shadows/dark areas while observing, be alert Vehicle Patrol Vary route/times, be suspicious, visible, aware, know AOR Patrol Areas/Response Usually bases are divided into zones or sectors for patrol, proceed quickly and safely when dispatched, 639 Building/Repository Checks Physical observation of a building for signs of illegal entry/tampering, uses building check sheet, sheet is official document… don’t lie Unsecured Facility Observe, notify dispatch, wait for backup, search building w/ MWD if available 640 Procedures Don’t be predictable, notify dispatch, and be alert Conducting Check Physically check all exits/windows, look for signs of tempering (scratches, fallen paint, etc..), stacked objects, partially removed hinges, persons hiding on second story Recheck from alternate starting point Checking buildings regarding funds, ammo/weapons, designated, quarters of away occupants Alarm Response Purpose is to respond to alarm activations, perimeter control accomplished by containing the incident scene and controlling entry , can respond to both open (silent alarm)/closed facilities, using CODE 2 , invisible deployment (sirens/ELS off when within sight of location), conceal vehicle if possible, must treat all calls as real Response for Patrol Most direct route for response, safe manner, observe for suspicious persons/vehicle, position in pre-designated position, exit and cover, 1 st unit on scene is On-Scene Leader until Watch Commander arrives, contain scene, report, challenge all suspects when they cross point of no return, if hostage situation allow no one to leave, report to dispatch all info on robbery, get medical attention for injured, protect crime scene 642 On-Scene Leader Responsible for ensuring proper positioning of patrol units/assigned personnel, directs 360 degree check and evacuation Gate Sentry Close/secure gate and deny exit/entry (same as securing the gate…), employ Stop/Check/Pass, follow dispatches directions 643 Escorts Non-Priority Resources
