POSSIBLE HEALTH BENEFITS OF TAKING VITAMINS INTRODUCTION Since the early 1700`s people from every continent have been taking vitamins. The reason people take them is because they believe that it is possible that there are many diverse health benefits from taking an assortment of vitamins. Some say they are good for Heart Health, such as Fish Oil. It is said that taking Fish Oil everyday can help prevent Heart Disease. Also, taking a multivitamin every night is said to help you in many different ways by helping to build the immune system and other nervous and cardiovascular system functions. In recent years, there has been a significant jump in the sales of vitamins. Most vitamins are not evaluated by the Federal Department of Agriculture, so certain individuals are nervous to take them and don’t believe. But for a large amount of the population vitamins are a daily habit and are taking every single day in hopes to prevent physical sicknesses and ailments. TYPES OF VITAMINS Fish oil is one of the most popular vitamins to date. It is a more recent drug but it is said that taking a certain amount of Fish Oil each day will help prevent heart disease. Fish oil contains Omega-3 Fatty Acids and other biological antioxidants which are linked to a healthy heart. In 1996 the American Heart Association released a report entitled, “Fish Consumption, Fish Oil, Lipids and Coronary Heart Disease.” Since then, important new findings have been reported about the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids on cardiovascular disease. These include evidence from random clinical trials. Also, new
