1. What has been the state of NASCAR’s race attendance in the past two years? The business of selling tickets has been uneven at best the last two years. 2. What factors are cited by NASCAR for the outcome you reported in question 1? Track promoters have blamed gas prices, tougher economic conditions and entertainment alternatives for declining or stagnant attendance. 3. What are Daytona Speedweeks? What is the intent of Speedweeks? Daytona’s Speedweeks is a three-week stretch of 10 events that include Craftsman Truck Series, Nationwide Series, Grand Am and ARCA races, as well as qualifying events. The intent is to help bring up admissions revenue from it unexpectedly dipping from 2006-2007. This races help to promote events, and get many people tuning into the find out if their favorite racer has won. 4. What will be the life attendance at the Daytona 500 this year? On Jan. 31, they announced a sellout event. Track officials believe there will be about 250,000 fans total, counting those infield. 5. How does the Daytona 500 ticket sales effect the “Leading Events” Why did NASCAR delay announcing that the Daytona 500 was a sellout? They are called Leading Events because it is an effort to give them more credibility as races that can stand on their own. They delayed the announcement because they had plenty of tickets to sell to the other Speedweeks events. 6. Where does the Daytona 500 rank as a profitable event? Speedweeks and the Daytona 500 rank among the most lucrative sporting events behind month long spectacles like the FIFA World Cup and NCAA mens basketball tournament.

7. Cite at least two key findings that you found interesting from the “How Times Have Changed” graphic. I, and nobody that I know are interested in NASCAR so I really didn’t find anything to interesting about the findings, but it is net how the Avg. speed has only raised a little over 10mph over the past 50 years, and the winner’s share has risen significantly to $1.51million. 8. Describe the three basic revenue categories for the Daytona 500 and Speedweeks. a) Revenue from Daytona’s other fan areas which are called Motor sports related and it includes everything from fan amenity areas to suites, and sponsorships. b) Food, Beverage, and Other merchandise sales this pretty much speaks for itself.
