2 Running Head: DELAYED ONSET MUSCLE SORENESS Delayed Onset Muscle soreness is a condition caused by exercise-induced damage. The condition is mostly characterized by muscle stiffness and pain 24 to 72 hours after performing a strenuous exercise. This paper explains the condition in detail based on Sara's situation in the case study. First and foremost, I would explain to Sara that Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is stiffness or pain muscles that a person feels a few days or several hours after a strenuous or accustomed exercise. I will also explain to her that the soreness may be more painful between one day to three days after the exercise, and perhaps it was caused by conventional exercises. This eccentric exercise can cause the muscles to adapt rapidly to prevent muscle damage hence causing soreness. It is also critical for Sara to understand that delayed soreness is just one of the many symptoms of muscle damage. It is critical to explain to Sara that she is suffering from Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness based on her signs and symptoms.
