Starts with local trading, then other trading, then sea routes, cell phones, satellites, airlines. Has been greatly accelerated in the last few decades. There is a global economy now. Some countries are obviously more globalized than others and there are conflicts on all of this. The United States has been #1 in the past, but the rest of the world is catching up rapidly and the US is no longer as far above everyone else as it used to be. 1.2 A Planetary Plan- Generalizations will be made about the geography about where things are happening. (spatial thinking) The “where” is very important in formulating decisions about pretty much anything. Ex: Chinese population distribution, AIDS distribution, crack cocaine, love. Thinking about regions is another method. Regions are an identified named space. Need area, boundaries, and a homogeneous trait (which generalizes). Ex: iced tea drinking region (the south), the language, diet, religion, etc. Physical traits combine with cultural traits to create a unique region. There are always exceptions to generalizations. Scale: how big/small an area is. The bigger the region the more exceptions there usually are. Regions: North America (US/Canada), Mexico, central america, carribean, south america, western europe, eastern europe, russia, middle

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
