Hall 1 Peterline Hall Mrs. Edgerton IB English 05 May 2019 Moliere Moliere is the mastermind behind various plays such as; Tartuffe, The Misanthrope, The Miser, and The Imaginary Invalid. Moliere originally known as Jean-Baptiste Poquelin was born in January 15, 1622. He is the son of Marie and Jean Poquelin; his father was a Parisian furniture merchant and the king's personal furniture distributor. Moliere lost his mother in FRance at the age of 10. He and his mother was very close. Jean Baptiste studied at the College de Clermont, a Jesuit school, becoming a promising scholar of Latin and Greek. Naturally in France, tradition is the first son is to oversee his father's business. Ever since he was a small boy, he had been attracted to the theater but tradition made him suppress his true dreams and he proceeded to study law. “When Tiberio Fiorilli, called Scaramouche, came to Paris in 1640, Molière struck up a warm friendship with the Italian actor-mime” (“Moliere Facts¨). He was awarded his law degree in 1642 but he didn’t go through with the career path he had chosen; he turned away from his legal profession and his father's business.
