AJ Garrigus February 12, 2008 English 101, Bonner Response Essay “The ‘Values’ Wasteland” Charles Sykes’ “The ‘Values’ Wasteland” reports how the children of the late ’80’s and early ‘90’s were becoming ethically numb about things such as underage sex, stealing, lying, and cheating. He focuses primarily on cheating and student’s lack of moral code in school. I personally have a good deal of experience in this matter. I have always felt, depending in the manner of cheating, that all I was doing was “using all available resources.” I always believed that tests weren’t quizzing my understanding of the matter but memory alone and that there was no real need for me to force myself to memorize everything because if so then taking notes was going against this to begin with. I would condescendingly remark to myself that if we [the students] needed to have all the material memorized, why the teachers didn’t as they were instructing from a book.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
