Bree AlgarinEnglish 236—Creative Writing IJan. 27, 2019Week 3 Journal #12: Focus Write: CosplayingCosplaying is the short term for “Costume Play.” A lot of people around the world cosplay as their favorite super hero, anime character, video game character, and any character from anything really! I am a cosplayer myself, and I love feeling like that character for a day. It pumps me up a lot! Cosplayers tend to show off their cosplays at conventions around the world. Comic con, anime con’s, or even if they just want to have fun dressing up one day. Cosplayers tend to be very crafty and most cosplayers make their own cosplays. Some may buy their cosplays off cosplay websites if they don’t have sewing, or crafting skills. Usually I sew and craft my own cosplays… but I buy some of the more complex ones, due to me being a perfectionist. I like to craft my own props, accessories, and shoes even. I am going to be attending an anime convention in Seattle this April called Sakura-Con. I can’t wait to go this yearbecause my best friend, other friend, and younger sister will be attending. We all are cosplaying different things for the two days. The first day we plan to do a “free-for-all” day, which means we basically cosplay as whoever we’d like too! I am going as a Pokémon character named Valerie. Valerie was one of the complex characters to sew myself, so I ordered it online. It came out to be beautiful! It looked like I made it myself, it didn’t look cheap or like a knock-off either.
