What are some of the issues or pressures faced by women regarding their sexuality that do not exist in the same way for men?Some issues faced by women from social and cultural pressures around the world have been being subjected to sexual harassment, violence, physical and psychological abuse, confinement, circumcision, and economic and property control for decades (Module 2: Women and Body Politics, n.d.). Women have endured their feet being bound for femininity looks and to refrain them from working and walking, and for centuries women have had limited resources for clean health and medical care (Module 2: Women and Body Politics, n.d.). They have been criticized in some countries for not wearing the appropriate type of clothing and restricted to wearing itemsprescribed to only women such as dresses, veils over their face, and the amount of material that should be worn for swimwear (Module 2: Women and Body Politics, n.d.). Women have gone through reconstructive surgeries on their face, breasts, and genitals, yet prohibited from having tattoos at all or until a certain age in some countries yet a rite of passage in other countries (Module 2: Women and Body Politics, n.d.).
