One Small Step for Women, One Giant Leap for Womankind
As stated by Franklin D. Roosevelt, “Nobody will ever deprive the American people the
right to vote except for the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is
by not voting.” Throughout history, women have not always had the right to vote. They had to
fight for their right through a social movement called the Suffrage Movement. When the
Nineteenth Amendment was passed and all women were allowed to vote, it positively impacted
gender norms and equality.
The Nineteenth Amendment played an important role in ending the Woman’s Right to
Vote Movement. In summary, the Nineteenth Amendment in the U.S. Constitution states that any
United States citizen, regardless of sex, is allowed to vote. This amendment was ratified on
