DISORDERS OF THE VEINS AND ARTERIES 2 Personal Leadership Philosophies A healthy work environment for a nurse is a workplace in which one feels safe, empowered, and satisfied (Wei, Sewell, Woody, Rose, 2018). Philosophy is defined as a search for a general understanding of values and reality (Merriam-Webster, n.d.). Developing a personal leadership philosophy is essential due to it showing leadership skills that are important for that person. Being a good leader comes with a great deal of responsibility, but what makes a leader commendable is one whom demonstrates their core values and strengths. Core Values My core values are honesty and dependability. Honesty is important because it means being truthful. No matter the situation, that person will consistently no matter the situation always does the best to be truthful. Dependability is another essential. Being able to be depended on whether a provider or any type of employee it is a sign of professionalism. I have been in nursing for twelve years, but my core values have developed intricately over the last five years. It
