PERSONAL WORLDVIEW & BUSINESS ETHICS2STEP 1To what extent should personal religious beliefs impact our decisions about business ethics?Throughout society, ethical decisions are different between person to person. Often manypeople do not truly think about the decisions that they make and if they are ethical or not. With this being said, I believe that one’s personal beliefs often should have a direct impact on businessethics. Though often there may be difficult settings that arise in business, one should not compromise on their beliefs unless others are at harm. Allowing people to express their religiousbeliefs in a business setting will often allow new perspectives to arise among the employees. This can become a major advantage in a business. According to the article titled “Worldview, Philosophy, Faith, and Ethics” (n.d.) many people have the wrong foundation with affects their religious beliefs. To what extent do your personal religious (or non-religious) beliefs about life impact your sense of business ethics and personal decision-making?My life is heavily impacted by my beliefs. I choose to allow my beliefs to impact my daily life because I have been taught that there is more to what I do. I believe that I have a soundcharacter backed and engrained by beliefs that started from a young age. Gervails (2013) talks about how often our religious beliefs allow our mind to perceive a way of life. I allow my personal beliefs to have a true impact on my life because I believe that this will not only allow the best opportunities for me but the right ones in my career and work life. Does it seem odd to connect every belief we have about life back to what we believe about God?
PERSONAL WORLDVIEW & BUSINESS ETHICS3Through everyday decisions, one may truly not realize how much of their decisions are based on their foundational belief. I do not think it is odd to connect our everyday life beliefs back to God. Today, many people connect their decisions about life to many of the decisions thathave led up to that point, but I believe that the foundation of our beliefs helps one answer the question. According to the article “Worldview, Philosophy, Faith, and Ethics” (n.d.) our worldview must be placed on moral and a structured foundation which will allow us to make the proper decisions. Article 1- “What is a worldview and why is it important to me?”Has your answers to either of the first two questions changed after reading article 1?I would say that my answers have not changed after reading Article 1. I say this because I believe that everything we do must be placed on the foundation that we build. When one has built their life on a moral foundation that is something that they strongly believe in, the only option they natural have is to make decisions based on it. Forgas (2008) talked about how often we may subconscious decisions that impact our lives often in ways that we never notice.
