Matteo Radoslovich Theology, 3A Cardenas, 7 9/4/18 Prompt #2 All my life I have lived around many different religious backgrounds. My mom is Protestant, my Dad is Atheistic, and I go to a Catholic School filled with Christians, Jews, Muslims, and more. My view on faith however, has developed in a fairly unique way compared to most of the people I have known. When I was a kid, I did not think about religion much, until around age 11 when I became a devout atheist. This was somewhat due in part to my Dad being Agnostic at the time, but my primary justification for my atheism had less to do with my father’s views. I did not like religion because I saw all the evil in the world, similar to Albert Camus’ views in Newman’s The Existence of God : “In the face of this misery and apparent chaos especially in the human world, the atheist cannot believe in the God of Christians, who is supposed to be both good and powerful.” (Newman 14) I also saw how certain radical faiths tore people apart, more specifically radical Muslim groups and extremely conservative Christians.
