Grade Level: 5 year olds Objectives: Compare and contrast color and texture of two paintings. Understand two different techniques of artwork, pen and watercolor over crayon. Students will view and discuss likes and dislikes of each piece of artwork.   Materials: “Zehenthof” by Katharine M. Gericke~ , pencil, crayon water colors “Snowy Hideaway” by Jim A. Hall~ pencil, pen “Peaceable Kingdom” by Edward Hicks ~ oil painting  Motivation: Students will look at Katharine M. Gericke’s water color painting of “Zehenthof” Teacher will ask questions: o What do you notice about the painting? o What do they look like? o What do you think was used to make this painting? Markers? Paints? (Pencil, watercolors and  crayons is the correct answer) Teacher will ask students to look at the differences in color.  o When you close your eyes and look at the painting again where do your eyes go?
