Surname 1 Surname [Instructor Name] ENG 102 Rhetorical Analysis: A Case of More Guns (And More Gun Control) The gun debate is one of the most common debates in America. This discussion is determined primarily by gun rights and gun control activists. These two groups often disagree on the interpretation of court cases and laws related to the effects of gun control and ownership of firearms. These two warring sides argue for and against the need for more guns in the hands of American citizens. Gun control activists claim that it is not necessary to allow for concealed carry as it leads to more gun-related deaths, while gun rights activists argue that the people who own guns are less likely to commit a crime as they are disciplined. In “The Case for More Guns (And More Gun Control),” Jeffrey Goldberg is effective in convincing gun rights and gun control activists of the need for a balanced approach to gun control through the use of logical attacks on well-established assumptions and arguments, credible sources and information, and emotional appeal. Rhetorical Triangle Jeffrey Goldberg is sympathetic with the gun control policies in place and the approach used by the activists. Jeffrey examines the different scenarios where the need for guns would be more appropriate despite the ruling on carrying and possession of firearms.
