2 Annotated Bibliography Dart, A. B., Sellers, E. A., Martens, P. J., Rigatto, C., Brownell, M. D., & Dean, H. J. (2012). High burden of kidney disease in youth-onset type 2 diabetes. Diabetes care , 35 (6), 1265–1271. doi:10.2337/dc11-2312 Summary : Diabetes causes 30-40% of end-stage kidney disease in North America and has a 5- year survival rate as low as 34%. This study aimed to look into the renal outcomes and survival in youth with type 2 diabetes. The study found that youth with type 2 diabetes are at high risks for renal failure. Evaluation: Following the explanation and pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes in youth, this journal gives a different perspective of the rate of which type 2 and type 1 diabetes is linked to progressive kidney disease. The findings support the fact that type 2 diabetes is much more deadly than type 1, with higher risks of comorbidities. Children with type 2 diabetes displayed differences from those with type 1 diabetes, including older age, predominantly female, and lower SES. Hence, this study’s findings supports the need for initiatives to decrease the rate of type 2 diabetes in youth.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
