1. Define and discuss the difference between micronutrients and macronutrients. Also, discuss their importance in the body at rest and during exercise. The main difference between macronutrients and micronutrients is that macronutrients are a larger quantity of nutrients required for human growth and other body functions, whereas micronutrients are needed in smaller quantities. Humans animals require a continuous supply of macronutrients and micronutrients to maintain brain, muscle, bone, nerves, skin, blood circulation, and the immune system. The three macronutrients needed by the body to provide energy are carbohydrate, protein, and fat. Water and fiber are also macronutrients, although they do not provide energy. While water does not provide any nutritional value, it is vital to the functioning of bodily metabolic processes, including the absorption of micronutrients. In addition, water often contains micronutrients such as calcium and salt. Fiber is found in vegetables and fruits, which are necessary for the functioning of the digestive system. Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats are found in cereals (rice, wheat, barley), legumes (lentils, peas, and beans), meat and fish (high in protein), and in starchy foods such as yams and potatoes. Excellent addition to one’s diet is nuts that provide fats, fiber, and other nutrients as well as an excellent source of plant-based protein.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
