Title : K and D Heat Pack Introduction : Heat packs have been used ever since “the hand and foot warmer was first patented by Jonathan T. Ellis of New Jersey in 1891.” (wiki) Hand warmers, or heat packs, are used for a wide variety of things. For instance, heat packs can be used for muscle relief, staying warm, pregnancy pain (which can be anywhere), or cramps. Experiencing those pains can be really exhausting and can drain your energy, but, with our heat pack, we can relieve that pain and get you back on your feet. There are lots of benefits that come with heat packs. Those benefits are, but are not limited to: “Heat opens the blood vessels, increases blood flow and brings fresh nutrients and oxygen to the area, which helps reduce joint pain and muscle, tendon and ligament soreness.” (move beyond), warmth, and comfort. First paragraph : The chemical process that our heat pack produces is an exothermic reaction. It is exothermic because heat is being released into the heat pack, which causes you to be able to feel the heat when you touch the heat pack. Energy is transferred from the magnesium sulfate and the water mixed. Heat is produced in that reaction, and the cover of the heat pack traps that heat in. There are ionic bonds in the chemicals and when you mix them, they break apart from each other in the chemical reaction and that separation releases energy. When designing our heat pack components, we wanted to make sure that the heat pack was really warm, but not too hot to where it could burn you. So, with that in mind, after the reaction, we had a temperature increase of 25 degrees celsius. I researched the temperature when you start feeling a burning

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
