LAB 109 PHYS 102A 9/20/19 JOE DICKINSON PROF: ADRIEN GENOUD ONE DIMENSIONAL MOTION VELOCITY AS A FUNCTION OF TIME AND DISTANCE AT CONSTANT ACCELERATION INTRODUCTION In this lab, the goal was to determine the acceleration of a glider moving down an inclined air track. Then compare a theoretical calculation to an experiment using “photogates” to track the glider’s position and movement in a certain interval of time. Some background is needed to understand how to do this. We mainly used two functions to understand how to go from displacement and time values to values for velocity and acceleration: v=v0+at v2=v0^2+2a(x−x0) Using these two equations, we were able to determine the velocity and acceleration of the glider. EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE Using the computer software we would get the time it took for the flag to pass through each of the 2 photogates. After each test run we would increase the distance between the two photogates by 0.25m and run another test to get the time it took to pass

What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
