COURSE DESCRIPTION A supervised design project to be carried out in both Fall and Winter semesters; including a preliminary project proposal with a complete project plan; a progress and final report by the group; group discussions in audit sessions during the design phase; and a poster session involving each individual oral presentation at the end of the winter term. Mechanical capstone projects must be completed with a final working prototype. All presentations by the group members will be recorded. Corporate Structure : See Appendix C Lectures: 1 hour per week, 1 term. Equivalent laboratory time: 3 hours per week, 2 terms. TEXT: “Tools and Tactics of Design” (mandatory reading) P.G. INTRODUCTION The capstone engineering design project trains the student to pursue an engineering design problem in considerable width and depth. It also provides an opportunity for the student to demonstrate good judgment and the capability to solve open-ended design problems in mechanical engineering. The design of a product or a system carried out in the project requires the students to integrate and

The capstone engineering design course extends over two semesters with lectures related to course resources, requirements and safety aspects, given in the first semester. In the second semester, the students in each team are required to implement the design of an actual product or system under close supervision of the project supervisor(s). It is also required that the team have regular meetings with the supervisor(s) to ensure the project is on track. The frequency of the meeting can be limited to two per month for duration of 15 to 30 minutes over the two semesters. The team should come with the questions and the corresponding possible answers before the meeting to improve the efficiency of the meeting. An action task sheet showing

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
