Medical Record Transition 2 Introduction The purpose of this paper is to discuss the Service-Learning Project (SLP) regarding the transition of Hard Medical Records (HMR) to Electronic Medical Records (EMR). This service- learning project has provided me an opportunity to learn more in-depth about the transition and how much it has affected our patients and physicians' offices. This transition, to electronic medical records, has proven to be a very positive impact in our healthcare. Within in paper, I will be discussing the transition of hard copy records to electronic, pros and cons; issues encountered, and the outcome of this new system. Before this assignment, I was never aware of the transition from hard copy medical records to electronic medical records. My research has brought me to an entirely new understanding of how important medical records input and storage is essential within our healthcare system. I expected to be able to learn more about how the transition started and the issues that were encountered in this process.
