Kamal Miller Introduction to Criminal Justice 12/8/16 New Age Slavery? Being black in America has a lot of weight to it. From birth, there is a certain target on your back that many wont realizes they have until they are teenagers. There is also, a perception of man blacks that is unfair and that we are always the victim. Even as the aggressor black people are always the victim in the situation. Black on black crime is the biggest and most promenade example of this today. This issue only gets brought in select conversation when someone of color is killed in a controversial manner. The arguments brought up are the same in every occasion. They kill each other why isn’t this different? Black on black isn’t seen as an issue because the people who talk about it make it seem like a joke. This issue is bigger than many make it to seem, the origins run deep. These deep issues cause the image of a regular black American to be distorted and put against unfair odds just to achieve simple things. The reason these issues aren’t brought up are because of the money involved. Prisons these days’ profit from multimillion dollar companies to make their goods and the prisons themselves profit from the inmates they get. This new age slavery system has been in the works for decades, but hasn’t really panned out to a huge profit up until the last 15 years. With the system going right under our noses with this information and misleading the public they are feeding into this notion that black on black crime isn’t a bug issue.

Kamal Miller Introduction to Criminal Justice 12/8/16 Black on black crime in Major Cities To begin with, is the major cities with a large black community and that would include Chicago, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. These places have a common thing and that is high crime rates in black communities. Baltimore, Maryland has had record years in murders for the last two years. in 2015 there were 344 murders in Baltimore and this year that numbers are on pace to be broken. There have been 296 murders as of 12/7/16. These homicides range from shootings to arson cases, and these numbers are from a predominantly black areas of Baltimore city. 204 (94.4%) (Fenton, Justin. “Demographics of 2012 Baltimore Homicides.” Tribunedigital-Baltimoresun , 1 Jan. 2013,) This number shows the number and percentage of crimes blacks have committed this year. Another city with a shockingly high murder rate is Chicago which is having an extremely horrendous year for murders. Chicago is at 771 homicides as of 12/7/16(HeyJackass.com) That number is astronomically high and 77.9% of the crime in that city is from black people. And with that percentage being high the more questionable percentage is the 80% (HeyJackass.com) of cases that no arrest is made.
