Shift worker is an important part of our daily lives and very necessary. However, it can sometimes result in us not having the quality of sleep we deserve and makes it hard for some to be as productive as needed. As shift workers, we are at a very high risk of depression cancer, etc.. With the help of the National Sleep Foundation, they were able to come with some tips for shift worker for both at home and work. WORK ❏ Go for a walk before your shift, when it's still light out because light is a natural stimulate. ❏ Drink caffeine- gives you a boost HOME ❏ Sleep in a quiet, dark, and cool room ( be comfortable) ❏ Avoid screen time before bed ( phone, tablet, Tv usage). ❏ Get up and move- staying in one place can make you drowsy. ❏ Keep a routine, even on days off. ❏ Take short breaks. ❏ Give yourself enough time to sleep, 7-9 hours ( adults). ❏ Avoid caffeine, large meals and alcohol before bed. Sarah kabula 2. Sleep is one of the most important things in ones life. The more sleep we ge, the more relaxed, energetic, and concentrated we are throughout the day. However, as a full time student with a part time job, there is a lots of influences on our sleep schedule that time to time has an negative impact on the amount of sleep we are able to get. As for me, school and work are the two important things at the moment, which means my sleep schedule can get interrupted at any given time and the quality of my sleep. I am always jumping from school to work vice versa, which can result on not having enough time for other things including getting a peaceful and well reserved sleep. 3. There is lots of tips and could help us improve the quality of our sleep, such as,cutting social media ties before bed. Cells phones sometimes takes up a really big portion of our sleep time. We always find ourselves on them screen right before bed regardless of if we are going to bed at 8pm or 3am. Getting into a routine. Sarah kabula Mcgaunan the author of “ the tips of a better night sleep” states that developing a regular routine at bedtime helps promote sleep( April 18th, 2017). And last but least, sleeping when we are actually tired can improve the quality of our sleep because going to bed while our mind is still wide awake is counterproductive. ...
