1 Critical Comparative Analysis ‘Rethinking the MBA: business education at a crossroad’ by Srikant M. Datar, David A. Garvin and Patrick G. Cullen and ‘University Ltd: Changing a business School’ by Martin Parker are two chosen research papers that highlight the common theme of change management within business schools and their MBA programs. Analysis of both the papers lead to a development of a common understanding that ‘Change in pedagogy, theoretical knowledge and skills set across MBA programs is a complex yet necessary change in the present business schools and work environment scenario.’ The articles have been comparatively analyzed through a lens approach wherein the paper by Parker has been considered novel and given stronger level of importance to evaluate the paper by Datar, Garvin and Cullen. Despite of a stronger weightage given to the second research paper as compared to the first one, both papers share a similar theme of change managements and its necessity across business schools yet differ in various structural elements and approach that has been discussed below. The complexity in the present business environment renders these theories far from being relevant to MBA students today seeking career development with organizations that thrive on constant innovation and multi-tasking ability from their employees.[ CITATION Mar16 \l 1033 ] I also strongly relate with the paper and agree with the idea that MBA has become a platform for ‘earning’ rather than ‘learning’ through a typical classroom lecture approach. In addition to this, my agreement is also with the stance of the author that there needs to be a balance between practical application of business knowledge and the skills that motivate ethical behavior from MBA graduates[ CITATION Boy18 \l 1033 ].
