Nowadays, learning moral values from early childhood is a topic of increasing concern. While some commentators believe that implementation of punishment is essential for learning these values, I think that verbal and corporal punishment can do more harm than good. Parents and teachers should practice only benign methods of penalization, such as cutting down on the television time or playtime of children in order to teach them good manners. To begin with, it is important to acknowledge that in order to make children learn ethics and mannerism abusive modes of penalization should be avoided. This is because childhood is a very critical stage of development and imposing punishment at this stage may lead to defective physical and psychological development.
