Week 6 Assignment The Baroque period happened during the years 1600-1750 and in those years, music evolved much faster than in other eras of music. During this era, the rise of instrumental music began in the early years with opera. In the early Baroque era, opera became a major defining genre of music due to how it was composed, primarily for arias it was a single singing voice with instruments included in the background. Some popular instruments during this time were the violin family (strings), the harpsichord, flute, trumpet, french horn, oboe, and bassoons. Many of the Renaissance instruments were still popular but others, like the lute, were replaced with more modern versions of those instruments.
