After reading the article and our assigned chapters, I feel very unenthusiastic about being a woman that will inevitably have to go through menopause. “Vasomotor flashes…dizziness, nausea, headaches, or palpitations may accompany the flush…increase emotional stress with unpredictable mood swings, weight gain, migraine headaches, and insomnia…increased skin dryness and wrinkling,” are just some of the symptoms experienced during menopause (Huether & McCance,2012, p.794). I can understand why women would want to avoid experiencing these symptoms through the use of hormone therapy especially if there can be an advantage of “improv[ing] women's health in preventing osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases while protecting against breast and endometrial cancers,” (Abderrahman, 2016). I like how the article explores the history as well as the public opinion about menopausal hormone therapy but further dissects studies associated to certain medications used in estrogen therapy and estrogen- progesterone therapy while talking about the opportune time to take these medications. I agree with the author in that every woman should have a discussion with her healthcare provider to
