Central Place Theory was first proposed in 1933 by German geographer Walter Christaller , based on his studies of settlement patterns southern Germany. CPT in urban geography is one of the most appreciated theory. HISTORY: Von Thünen was the first to develop a theory of land use (1826). Alfred Weber formulated a theory of industrial location (1909). In both of this theories, there is kind of a centre, which makes the location or the patterns central. Christaller built upon the works of von Thünen and Weber. The theory included the analyzing of the relationships between settlements of different sizes and related their economic activities (market) with the population. Introduction
