After reading “Columbus and the making of Historical Myth” by Barbara Ransby. I want to examine her writing through various sets of questions from Chapter 5. To ask questions to various information sources is very important because the information is never neutral and analytical questioning is vital for a good education. “One who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; one who does not ask a question remains a fool forever”. (Lewis, P.188). Following are the list of 10 basic questions that I have examined to prove If Ransby provides a good source of information on Columbus. 1. Who’s Speaking? For critical thinking we need to know who is the storyteller? The chapter “Columbus and the Making of Historical Myth” is written by Barbara Ransby. She is a historian writer, professor, and long-time activist. She is a distinguished professor of African American studies. 2. What is the Author’s expertise? Barbara completed her B.A degree in history from Columbia University, received her M.S. degree in history and Ph.D. in history from the University of Michigan. She worked for the Institute of African affairs and the Department of History as a research assistant. She has served as a member of
