Barnes and Noble Rebranding Strategy Once before, traditional bookstores were extremely popular for individuals who enjoyed reading paper books. New and improved items like the Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble’s Nook, iPads, smartphones and other electronic devices can display all e-books by downloading them online. This option has become the new trend when consumers are in the market for a new book to read. Author Rick explains that once readers have more time to adjust to these technologies, bookstores will likely see their profits decline even further (Rick, 2012). This explains that big store like Barnes and Noble will eventually go out of business due to technology expanding. Although the physical storefront may go out of business it will still be able to make profit through its online book services. Having this option allows for services to continue to the designated consumers. Also, books are often used as a decorative accessory and with that Barnes and Noble will have to rebrand their products. They could then turn the store into an online department store for a wide range of consumers. A rebranding strategy is absolutely necessary to attract more consumers. Rebranding and launching new products allow the consumers to know and understand that management keeps up a positive reputation and uphold quality within its products. Introducing B&N Read, B&N Fun, and B&N Home would broaden the company beyond books and into more of a department store where consumers can buy gifts/specialty toys and home accessories while still being able to focus on their original goal - to operate the best specialty retail business in America, regardless of the product being sold (Barnes and Noble Inc., 2016). The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
