Vikash Chandra Humanities 332 Professor K .Codella. HARLEM RENAISSANCE Harlem a neighborhood in New York in city became home of civil right activist and new African American artist. As Harlem blossomed during in early nineteen century, due to great migration it also created problem among upper class white and African blacks. The great migration was caused due surge in job opportunities in the North, because the most of the Northern man went to Europe during the war. This resulted in huge demand for laborers in Northern , lured by the jobs .Most of the African American, usually were famers ended to migrating the North for better life style. During this great migration period, New York’s neighborhood gave birth to place called Harlem Renaissance, where smartest and brightest black people displayed their skill in different field such as Art, music and civil activist. As the skyscraper started to infest the city, Harlem became the focal point of new cultural possibility. This gave rise and new identity to African American people in segregated society of America. Harlem became the home to prominent businessman, artist, and intellectual. Harlem was known “black mecca” and the “capital of black American”. The smart and creative mind of the Harlem Renaissance through music and art made a significant impact on the black society.
