What is your understanding of transference? From what I have learned thus far concerning transference. Transference can be described as being a situation where feelings, desires and the expectations of one person are directed and applied to another individual. Essentially transference refers to a therapeutic setting, where a person in therapy may apply certain feelings emotions towards the therapist. Concisely according to summers, N. (2009). “This is transference, a collection of feelings and attitudes that the client holds about you. Positive transference occurs when a client likes, you and negative transference occur when a client does not.” From a psychanalysis, perspective can be paternal for example when an individual looks at another person as a father or an idealized father figure. The person may be, viewed, as powerful, and authoritative, and an individual may expect protection and sound advice from this person. In the past, I have much experience with my uncle, I looked him
