In our reading for this week, Summers highlights the importance of attitudes and boundaries and the part they play in working relationships. She writes that there are three basic helping attitudes that human service workers need to bring to their work in order to help their clients make changes and move toward better circumstances: warmth, genuineness, and empathy(Summers, 2016, 118). Sometimes, however, human service workers react to clients based on their own personal standards or feelings rather than on the helping attitudes above. There are times when human services workers become disgruntled due to difficult and uncooperative clients. Ironically, these are often the reasons why clients seek help to begin with. According to Summers, when a human service worker starts to complain about having to deal with difficult clients, it is a good time to check that his or her attitude is realistic for this type of work(124).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
