Jessa Mae M. Labasan 10- Fermat “Cockroach” According to an article, Cockroaches themselves first evolved around 350-300 million years ago and are probably one of the most despised of all insects. For some people the mere mention of cockroaches will send them run for covering themselves. However, there are 4,500 described species of cockroaches and only about 25 are considered to be pests. The rest of the order are extremely beneficial insects in a variety of ecosystems . A cockroach itself can live for a week without its head and can hold its breath for 40 minutes. Some species are able to withstand freezing temperatures. Cockroaches are small pests, so they can easily hide themselves in cracks and crevices. Male cockroaches themselves can fit through an opening as small as 1/16 inch in width or the thickness of a quarter. Cockroach itself can run up to three miles in an hour. A newborn cockroach, which is about the size of a speck of dust, runs nearly as fast as its parents. A cockroach acquires itself on a warm places and often
