Habash 1 Charlie Habash Mrs. Hatfield English 101 23 September 2019 The Lesson: Character Analysis In the narrative “The Lesson”, Sylvia, a young woman who wasn’t able to grasp the reality of economic status who developed as a dynamic character throughout the story. How did Sylvia finally learn the lesson? How did she come about at the end of the story? Sylvia is very ignorant and arrogant at the being of the story and she is very unwilling to be educated by Mrs. Moore who does her job voluntarily for the kids. As Sylvia wines about how many other things she could be doing on “this” nice day, such as swimming, she claims that she has to instead listen to Mrs. Moore. She does not yet realize the importance of education and it’s true significance of it in daily lives. It boggles in her mind in the middle of the narrative, asking why would people buy these expensive things that seem so useless to Syliva. She does not care to understand about economic class until they go to the toy store. This is an instance where Sylvia starts to grip a little bit of an understanding of the lesson being learned.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
