1 Rodriguez Natalie Rodriguez Professor Robert Sorensen HED 240-0800 February 5, 2019 The article “The Deadly Threat of Silent Heart Attacks” by Judith Graham from the New York Times is about how many people don’t know about the silent heart attack, so when it manifests it is often unrecognized and not treated as it should. This heart attack happens more to older adults and its name “silent heart attack” doesn’t mean it is less dangerous than a “recognized heart attack”. Silent heart attacks are twice as common and the symptoms are chest pain, nausea, sweating, shortness of breath but some people mistaken these symptoms for flu, muscle pain, or indigestion other don’t even know they suffered a heart attack because of the absence of symptoms or because it happened while they were sleeping. Many times, the person that had a heart attack doesn’t receive the medical attention needed because of the lack of symptoms, so they mistakenly self-diagnose themselves.
