PHY 150 jms/2019 CHAPTER 7: INDUCED CURRENT 7.0 Faraday’s Law . Electromagnetic induction is a process in which an emf is produced in a conductor by a changing magnetic field. The emf produced by electromagnetic induction is called an induced emf. Faraday’s law states that the induced emf produced in a coil is directly proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic flux of the coil. dt Nd = induced emf (volt) d = the change in magnetic flux (Wb) dt = time N = number of turns of the wire = magnetic flux = BA cos B The minus sign is due to the direction of the induced emf in accordance with the Lenz law.

PHY 150 jms/2019 The Lenz law says that an induced emf always gives rise to a current whose magnetic field opposes the original change in flux. 7.1 Inductance Self- inductance A coil carrying a changing current tends to behave in such a way that it opposes the change in current through it. This is caused by the changing current through the coil,

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
