PHY 150 jms/2019 CHAPTER 7: INDUCED CURRENT 7.0 Faraday’s Law . Electromagnetic induction is a process in which an emf is produced in a conductor by a changing magnetic field. The emf produced by electromagnetic induction is called an induced emf. Faraday’s law states that the induced emf produced in a coil is directly proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic flux of the coil. dt Nd = induced emf (volt) d = the change in magnetic flux (Wb) dt = time N = number of turns of the wire = magnetic flux = BA cos B The minus sign is due to the direction of the induced emf in accordance with the Lenz law.
