Technological advancements are beneficial; however, negatives will come with any progression. With more people reading online instead of reading physical books, it has altered the way people read. One of the first things modern society thinks of when they ponder technological advancement is the evolution of cellular devices. Although texting is arguably the most popular form of communication, other forms of communication are on the rise, and that is Snapchat.Online databases are affecting the way people read and comprehend an array of information. The online database for reading material is one of these times. People report feeling more distracted and fidgety ever since their reading material has shifted from physical books to online blogs, newspapers, studies done by universities, and e-books. Nicholas Carr states, "Research that once required days in the stacks or periodical rooms of libraries can now be done in minutes." There is scientific reasoning to why people are feeling this shift, and it is because the very nature of their brain is altered. Contrary to popular belief, the brain does not finish learning when one reaches adulthood.The mind is very "plastic" and is continuously making new connections and learning new things;the brain will continue to do this until the person dies. With the advancement of technology, the human brain will adapt to the change. In this case, it means that people are getting more and more used to reading quick information instead of through reading. This shift is teaching people to look for "the easy way out," so to speak.
