“The Things They Carried” Underline or italicize a book title by Tim O’Brien is a very sad and inspirational telling of the Vietnam war. Throughout the book the war was is told on a personal level , (no comma) and gave the reader a feeling that they were standing next to him during his hardships in the war. The book was stated to be a historical fiction in the beginning , (now you do need a comma because of the coordinating conjunction) but the reader can tell that the author lived through most of the events told in this book. One theme that I like in the novel is the theme of a war story being something so crazy that there is no way it could of (wrong word; use have happened, not could of happened) happened ( being the truest thing to come from war ) this part is confusing . The stories that seem to be in the realm of possibility are never true and the ones that sound like they can’t be true definitely are true. (Give examples of the crazy true things.) The novel does an amazing job
