Greg Holland WRA 110 January 22, 2008 Reading Reflection Gray, Chapter 11 Term: Technoscience Through science, we have developed many different “toys” used for pleasure, and have developed many techniques in changing one’s gender. The first dildos were used as a cure for female hysteria. They were “camouflaged” to the general public because they were seen as therapeutic, but this drastically changed during the sexual revolution of the sixties. It proclaimed the dildos sexual function. “Lately, thanks to improvements in plastic castings, there has been a proliferation of artificial yet lifelike vaginas, penises, and other organs copied from porn stars” (Gray 153). They can be used a marital aid or can even be used for someone’s loneliness. Through technoscience, people who are not happy with their gender can easily get an operation. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
