1 Carrasco Carrasco, Haley Honors Program Sept 16, 2019 All the Light We Cannot See Analysis “So how, children, does the brain, which lives without a spark of light, build for us a world full of light?” (Doerr). Of all the light quotes in this paper, this particular one mentions the word light not once but twice. Literally, the quote says our brain floats in a clear liquid with no light, but there is light on the outside. However, on a deeper note, the quote talks about how while our intellectual mind may not have been a thought of light, our thoughts do, in fact, create this said light. It’s amazing to me to see and understand how we are able to comprehend the differences and similarities in the light of the world around us. Whether that light be physical and literal light, or the glow of a person from within. “This, she realizes, is the basis of all fear. That a light you are powerless to stop will turn on you and usher a bullet to its mark.” (Doerr). This specific quote is describing Etienne and how he and his brother were chased by enemy lights. His fear of the light is provoked because it is that enemy light that took his brother.
